JSW Steel USA starts second tranche of plate mill upgrade in Texas

JSW Steel USA, a subsidiary of JSW Steel, announced on Monday that the phase 2 upgrade of its plate mill facility in Baytown, Texas, has begun.
According to JSW Steel, the project, which is expected to be completed by 2023, is being carried out by its subsidiary company JSW Steel (USA) Inc.

A four-Hi finishing mill, pre-leveller, accelerated cooling system and direct quench, cooling beds, and a new roll shop are all part of the project.
Parth Jindal, Director of JSW USA said that JSW USA's position as a high-quality, low-cost provider of melted and manufactured products will be strengthened further if these strategic capital upgrades at facilities in the United States are continued.
Jindal informed that this project is part of JSW's $260 million commitment to improve the quality of products, productivity, yields, and overall cost-effectiveness at our Baytown plate mill.
According to Mark Bush, JSW USA's CEO, once this project is completed, JSW USA will be able to deliver higher-quality products and enter new markets.
Bush said that these improvements will enable them to continue to provide significant-quality benefits to customers who demand high-quality hot-rolled coils, plates, and pipes.
