BCAS nods multi-level car parking facility at Dabolim airport

Dabolim airport director, Gagan Malik, told the media that the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has approved a multi-level car parking (MLCP) facility at Dabolim airport and will be operational this month.

The MLCP facility was completed in 2021, but security-related issues came to the forefront.

Malik said that this facility would reduce the parking and traffic congestion at the airport.

He said that additional land opposite the Dabolim airport would be acquired for further parking requirements.

He said that after the Chennai and Kolkata airports, Goa had been ranked third by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) as per the number of passengers handled.

Goa recorded a manifold increase in tourist footfalls recently.

Malik said that according to the norms of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, there should be multiple choices of transport for air travellers to reach the airport and vice-versa. For instance, the airport should have cars, buses, taxis and multi-modal means of transportation for all the passengers.
