BJP leader gadkari proposes an airport project to woo voters in Odisha

Campaigning in election season for candidates in Puri Lok Sabha and Brahmagiri assembly segments, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari unveils plans to establish an airport in Paradip with an investment of Rs 2 billion and initiate work on the 111-km 6-lane Bhubaneswar ring road costing Rs 60 billion, adding to the significant infrastructural developments in Odisha. Addressing an election meeting, Nitin Gadkari also pledged to construct a road from Tangi to Digha. Gadkari mentioned that there was a missing link between Gopalpur and Satpada due to Chilika Lake and the wetland, which necessitated people still relying on boats for transportation. He stated that a road would be constructed between NH-516 A and NH-316 A, and authorities had been instructed to prepare a DPR.

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways further stated that he would take action, with a request for reciprocal support through votes for BJP candidates Sambit Patra for the Puri Lok Sabha seat and Upasana Mohapatra for the Brahmagiri assembly segment. Gadkari pledged to implement projects aimed at enhancing fishery production and enabling local fishermen to earn in dollars, highlighting the coastline as Odisha's greatest asset. He underscored the importance of the Bhubaneswar ring road in reducing commute time for residents of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Khurda.

Furthermore, Gadkari revealed his intentions to start work on the Rs 13 billion, 35 km, four-lane Greenfield Ring Road in Sambalpur in October. The goal of this project is to reduce traffic between Cuttack and Rourkela. Gadkari attended the election gathering after praying at Shree Jagannath Temple earlier.
