In order to strengthen India's position in the aviation industry, the government has begun planning for the production of passenger aircraft in the country. The Center is looking into various airports. The idea is to have enough land available near an airport so that test flights can take place. It is expected that the aviation ministry will identify 5-6 airports for this purpose. Currently, the ministry of civil aviation is expected to identify potential sites with large land parcels available, as aerospace manufacturing facilities will require large space for assembly lines, aircraft parts, ancillary units, and other storage requirements. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the groundwork for the C-295 transport aircraft manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, the country's first in the private sector, in a significant development for aviation manufacturing. Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Airbus Defence and Space SA, Spain will collaborate to build C-295 aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF). This Rs 219.35 billon project is the first of its kind, with a private company manufacturing a military aircraft in India. The aircraft can also be used for civilian purposes.
