Delhi airport introduces e-boarding facility at its terminals

The Delhi airport, operated by the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), has introduced an e-boarding facility at all its terminals for passengers.

GMR Group said that the terminals have contactless e-boarding gates and boarding card scanners. The passengers can flash their boarding cards to verify flight details and proceed with security checking.

The e-boarding gates are available at Terminal 3 and Terminal 2 and not at Terminal 1.

DIAL said that it would reduce the touching of facility and interaction among people in this period of the Covid-19 pandemic and also reduce the boarding time.

It added that this procedure had reduced 50% of the transaction time, with lower queues and improved security as the boarding cards are verified with the back offices of the airlines.

DIAL has also set up e-processing kiosks at Terminal 2, and within the next few weeks, these will be set up at Terminal 3 and Terminal 1.

The kiosks are present at the entry gate of the terminal, while the passengers will have to go through e-boarding gates before the security checks in the airport.

It will reduce the travel documents validation period for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel significantly and provide an end-to-end seamless and contactless travel experience to the passengers.
