Disinvestment process of Air India on right path: Jyotiraditya Scindia

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia told the media that the Air India disinvestment process is on the right track. The financial bids should come in by September 15 of this year for this.
Under the Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) project, air services in the country are being democratised and efforts made to accomplish the target of putting in place 1,000 airways and 100 airports by 2025, the minister said.
Scindia told the media that the disinvestment process of Air India is on the right track. By September 15, the financial bids should come in for this disinvestment process, and after that the next move would be initiated.
A blueprint of rules had been prepared for operating drones, Scindia said.
As in the case of bigger aircraft drone flying paths will be established, and people would be permitted to fly drones in defined areas with the help of software, the minister said.
Drones will also be registered, and drones flyers would be issued licenses, he said.
The minister added the air traffic to and from Jabalpur, Indore, Khajuraho, Gwalior, and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh was rising. The number of flights from these areas will increase to 738 from 424 from September 1.
Scindia said Indore's Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport expansion plan to facilitate operations of big aircraft from there has been drawn up, under which land of 2,300 acres has been sought from the state government.
