Goa launches 'Multimodal Transport App' for last mile connectivity

Goa's transport minister, Mauvin Godinho, announced that the government will launch a 'Multimodal Transport App' to provide visitors with options for affordable last-mile connectivity.

鈥淥ne who lands in Goa at Dabolim airport, whether he or she wants to travel by taxi, bus or rickshaw or motorcycle pilot (a two wheeler taxi), they can choose mode of transport through this App. It will give last mile connectivity,鈥� Godinho said here. He stated that the government will add more electrical buses to the fleet of the state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation in order to provide better service to the people of Goa.

鈥淢opa airport will be a game changer for Goa. It is going to change the entire system of functioning in many ways. Today, perhaps, we might be not aware of its impact,鈥� he said.

鈥淭oday we order everything on phone. This is new era. Thus we need to give facilities of transport to book on phone,鈥� he said urging app- based transport should not be opposed.

He stated that the Multimodal Transport App will aid in advance booking. 鈥淲e need to think how people can get cheaper and affordable transport mode,鈥� he said.

鈥淎fter Mopa Airport is commissioned, we will have to revive infrastructure of Goa. We will have to increase tourism facilities. Ecen central government will have to help us for this,鈥� Godinho said.

He stated that a good transportation system is one of the indicators of growth. 鈥淓lectrical buses give facility of smooth and comfort transportation and pollution 鈥� free transport,鈥� he said.

鈥淢opa airport, being run by private operator, will have all type of taxis. Whether is its Ola, Goa Miles, Rent a car, prepaid taxi. If we fail to give such facilities at Dabolim Airport then people will prefer to land at Mopa airport. Hence, those who are opposing app- based transport system should think over this,鈥� he said.

Godinho said that he has taken taxi operators from Dabolim airport in confidence and they have shown positivity for 鈥楳ultimodal Transport App鈥�.

鈥淲e will launch it in next 10 days,鈥� he said.
