MADC Begins Demolition for Nagpur Airport Expansion

The Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) has started demolishing structures in Shivangaon village as part of the land clearance process for the expansion of Nagpur Airport, which will include the construction of a second runway. The project is progressing as plans to hand over the airport to GMR gather momentum. MADC officials have stated that the second runway will pass through Shivangaon, and the demolition of structures will continue for the next month.

In 2016-17, local residents were compensated with land at Chinchbhuvan, although many chose to remain in Shivangaon, renting out their properties or allowing relatives to occupy them.
