Govt approves over Rs 600 cr to build roads and bridges in Uttarakhand

On Friday, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, told the media that the Centre approved more than Rs 600 crore for constructing 42 roads and bridges in Uttarakhand.
Giving the information at a press conference here, Dhami said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways approved Rs 615.48 crore out of the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for constructing 42 roads and bridges in the state as a result of the state government's efforts.
Dhami said that unprecedented work has been completed during the last seven years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the growth of Uttarakhand. The road and rail link projects taken up in the state in the past few years are big signs of it.
Construction of roads and flyovers on the way to Haridwar and Rishikesh has decreased the travel time from Dehradun to these towns to just about 45 minutes to one hour. Earlier, it took over two hours to reach these places from Dehradun.
The distance to Delhi will significantly decrease once the elevated road is built from Dat Kali temple in Dehradun to Delhi.
Drawing a comparison, he told the media that from 2000 to 2017, only Rs 614.85 crore were approved for Uttarakhand out of CRIF, whereas Rs 1,124.25 crore were approved for the state out of the fund in merely four years.
The Chief Minister while thanking the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari for approving the amount, said that it would expedite the construction of roads and bridges from which the state would benefit immensely.
Apart from this, other projects worth Rs 32,000 crore are also pending before the Centre that comprises the Rs 12,000 crore Dehradun-Delhi elevated road.
