GHMC committee rages over road maintenance works

The Standing Committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on August 22 expressed its dissatisfaction over the road maintenance works in Hyderabad city and non-implementation of various resolutions by the engineering staff concerned. The Committee members took objection to the functioning style of engineers and said the resolutions of the committee and general body were not being implemented.

The Committee members expressed their ire at a review meeting attended by Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain and Commissioner MT Krishna Babu. The Commissioner asked the Engineer-in-Chief to look into the matter and said that though specific instructions were given to the superintendent engineers for a regular review every month, the same was not being followed.

There was a need to issue memos to the engineers to inculcate discipline, he said. Krishna Babu added that a stretch wise study of lapses would be taken up by appointing a consultant for laying permanent roads.
