Goa govt to build more bridges

The Goa government is set to build more bridges in the state, in addition to the ones already approved. The new projects under consideration of the GSIDC include bridges at Tiracol-Keri, Amona-Virdi, Rachol-Shiroda, Tuem-Camurlim, Chodan-Pomburpa and Panaji-Betim. The State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), which is to build the bridges, has also recently approved the construction of a grade separator, a kind of a flyover to ease traffic congestion at the entrance of the Dabolim airport.

Earlier, projects approved by the GSIDC include the now-under-construction bridge at Calvim-Aldona. While the Tiracol-Keri steel arch bridge is said to be like the famous Sydney Harbour bridge in design, the proposed bridge between Panaji-Betim is also said to be extremely high in aesthetics.

The approaches to the bridge are designed such that they do not disturb the existing road or traffic arrangements on either side. The bridge will end on either side through circular loops that do not require long approach roads. Also, the bridge will not have any piers in the river but each of the two piers near the banks will have a revolving restaurant and a watch tower.

ED Searches 13 Locations Linked to Illegal Buildings in Vasai

The Mumbai Enforcement Directorate (ED) searched thirteen locations in Vasai and Virar linked to builders involved in constructing 41 illegal buildings on a 60-acre plot earmarked for public projects.
