Ahmedabad-Rajkot Highway Six-Laning Nears Completion

The six-laning of the Ahmedabad-Rajkot National Highway is nearing completion, with 193 km of the 201.33 km stretch already finished, Minister of State for Cooperation Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma informed the Assembly. The state government has allocated Rs 33.5 billion for the project, with work on 197 km being executed in the first phase.

Once completed, the upgraded highway is expected to cut travel time to 2 hours and 32 minutes, saving commuters 30 to 45 minutes while reducing fuel consumption by 10-15%.

The project includes 38 flyovers and underpasses, of which 34 are complete, while work on the remaining four is ongoing. Additionally, the highway expansion has significantly improved safety, reducing accidents at previously identified black spots by 41% since 2019. Out of 34 such accident-prone locations, 31 have been addressed, with the remaining three set for resolution soon.
