Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway set to get toll plazas

One of the few interstates without toll booths will be the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is developing a strategy to deploy Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology to collect toll fees on the recently improved national route,

The Delhi-Meerut motorway is currently equipped with ANPR technology, which the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will gradually implement on other motorways and national roads. The highway connecting Bengaluru and Mysuru would be among the first to receive it.

According to this approach, toll fees are subtracted from FASTag based on ANPR camera recordings of a vehicle's entry and exit.

The NHAI is aiming to install ANPR cameras at the expressway's 89 entry/exit points and will probably take down all toll booths.

There are two toll booths on the 55.63-km Bengaluru-Nidaghatta highway segment (at Kaniminike in Bengaluru Urban and Sheshagirihalli in Ramanagar). When it is ready, the NHAI will install two more toll booths on the 61-km Nidaghatta-Mysuru segment.
