In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, the cabinet granted approval for the construction of a 40.90-kilometer-long Bhopal bypass using the Hybrid Annuity Model. This project will be undertaken at a cost of Rs 29.81 billion and will be located in the West-South Bhopal area. The Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation will be responsible for building the four-lane bypass, complete with paved shoulders. Additionally, both sides of the bypass will feature six-lane structures and service roads.
Within the scope of this project, there are plans to construct one Railway Over Bridge (ROB), two flyovers, 15 underpasses, and two comprehensive junctions along the route. The contract will involve the disbursement of 40 per cent of the total amount in five installments to the agency during the construction phase, with the remaining payment to be made over the next 15 years in the form of annuity.
Furthermore, the Cabinet has also given its approval to allocate 8.0100 hectares of government land in the Barrai area of Saket Nagar, Bhopal, to AIIMS. This land will be provided under an annual land lease agreement of Rs 1, along with other associated conditions. In addition, a budget of Rs 1.67 billion has been set aside for the renovation and upgrade of Satpura and Vidhyanchal Bhawan. Notably, Satpura Bhawan had suffered extensive damage in a fire incident in June, and this upgrade will give it a fresh new look.
The Cabinet has also passed the Kayakalp scheme, which involves an allocation of Rs 12 billion for the improvement and construction of roads in urban areas. This decision aims to enhance transportation facilities for the benefit of the citizens.
Furthermore, the Cabinet has decided to establish the Khelo MP Youth Games, following the successful model of the Khelo India games held in the state in the past. A budget of Rs 2 billion has been earmarked for this initiative. These games will be conducted at the district, division, and state levels to provide talented athletes with opportunities to showcase their abilities and support their career development on an annual basis.
