Centre Approves 2.55-km Flyover at Diwan Cheruvu for Smoother Transit

The Central government has approved the construction of a 2.55-kilometer-long flyover at Diwan Cheruvu, located on the outskirts of Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh. This infrastructure project aims to improve connectivity between National Highways 16 and 216A, reducing congestion and enhancing road safety.

The approval follows ongoing efforts to address the increasing traffic and frequent accidents at the Diwan Cheruvu Junction. This junction serves as a crucial crossing point for commuters traveling between nearby villages and major cities like Kakinada and Visakhapatnam. Due to the high volume of vehicles and pedestrian movement, the area has long faced traffic-related challenges.

The proposed flyover will connect key locations, including Diwan Cheruvu Junction, Gammon Bridge Junction, and the Fruit Market Centre, ensuring smoother traffic flow. With an estimated cost of Rs 3.27 billion, construction is expected to commence soon.

Local authorities anticipate that the project will significantly ease traffic congestion, improving daily commutes for thousands of residents and travelers. The flyover is also expected to enhance road safety by minimizing accident risks at the busy junction.

The approval of this project is part of broader efforts to strengthen road infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh. With the groundwork set to begin in the coming months, the initiative aligns with the government鈥檚 commitment to modernizing transportation networks and facilitating safer, more efficient travel across the region.
