The progress on the construction of the approximately five (5) km long Baradevi-Naubasta elevated section of Corridor-1 within the Kanpur Metro Rail Project is moving forward rapidly. It was mentioned that the erection of steel spans over the Naubasta flyover had started from Saturday. It was reported that the initial segments of both steel box girders, each about 30 meters long, had been erected approximately 6 meters above the flyover using specially constructed temporary structures on both sides. In the Kanpur Metro infrastructure, U-girders and I-girders are considered essential components used for constructing viaducts that support the metro tracks. It was stated that typically, the average length of U-girders used in the Kanpur Metro is 27 meters. It was explained that as a result, the decision had been made to utilize 45-meter-long steel box girders for this particular span. It was noted that these girders were to be erected in three segments each for both the up-line and down line. It was mentioned that Saturday morning marked the successful erection of the first segments of girders for both lines, each approximately 30 meters in length. It was further mentioned that with the addition of two more segments, the length of both steel box girders would reach 45 meters each, facilitating the seamless continuation of the project.
