Gadkari inaugurates 7 highway projects worth Rs 65 bn in Uttar Pradesh

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, launched seven National Highway projects totalling Rs 65 billion in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district on Monday.
Gadkari stated on the occasion that with the building of the Ballia Link Expressway, it will be able to travel from Lucknow to Patna via the Purvanchal Expressway in about four and a half hours. Ballia to Buxar takes half an hour, Ballia to Chhapra takes an hour, and Ballia to Patna takes an hour and a half.
With the development of the Greenfield Highway, eastern Uttar Pradesh will receive improved connectivity with Chhapra, Patna, and Buxar in Bihar, he noted.
The minister stated that the veggies grown by Ballia farmers will be readily transported to the mandis of Lucknow, Varanasi, and Patna. He stated that through this highway, vegetable-producing farmers will gain directly from three multi-modal terminals in Varanasi, Ghazipur, and Haldia.
Gadkari stated that the Rs 1.30 billion greenfield road from Chandauli to Mohania will connect Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh and Kaimur district in Bihar via the Delhi-Kolkata GT Road. He stated that the development of the Saidpur-Mardah road will provide a direct connection from Mau to Varanasi via Saidpur.
He stated that increased connectivity with other cities in the state will improve the state's economic and social conditions, as well as provide new connectivity to backward areas in the Azamgarh district.
Gadkari also proposed a new connecting route between Ballia and Ara via a 28-kilometer greenfield spur road, which will cost Rs. 1500 crore.
