Guttahalli Main Road Widening Urged by Commuters

Commuters traversing through Bengaluru's bustling streets, particularly those commuting from Cauvery Theatre, are raising concerns over the narrowing of Guttahalli Main Road. The choked stretch, they argue, is causing significant traffic bottlenecks, prompting calls for immediate action from city officials.

The issue stems from the lack of uniform width in many of Bengaluru's roads, leading to constriction points where vehicles struggle to pass through smoothly. According to commuters, the narrowing of Guttahalli Main Road, particularly between Cauvery Theatre and the Guttahalli Flyover, has become a major headache during peak hours.

Rajkumar Dugar, a prominent citizen activist and convenor of Citizens for Citizens, emphasized the urgency of the situation. "The stretch between Cauvery Theatre and the Guttahalli Flyover has turned into a bottleneck," he stated. "We have been urging officials for years to rectify this issue. The road narrows significantly, causing gridlock, especially when larger vehicles occupy the space."

Commuters have been actively engaging with authorities, including Sadashivanagar and High Ground traffic police stations, to find a solution to the problem. Their proposed remedy involves addressing the lack of uniform width on the road by adjusting and straightening the width of the footpath.

"Officials need to address the uniform width issue on the road," Dugar asserted. "Without extensive land acquisition, this problem can be mitigated by simply adjusting the footpath width."

The plea for action highlights the growing frustration among commuters grappling with Bengaluru's notorious traffic woes. As voices continue to clamor for improvements, the spotlight remains on city authorities to implement effective measures to ensure smoother and safer journeys for all.
