JICA to build 5 road projects in Sikkim valued at Rs 14.40 billion

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has committed to undertaking five significant road projects in Sikkim, with a total estimated cost of Rs 14.40 billion. Presently, teams are conducting site inspections to evaluate the project areas.

The road projects proposed by JICA in Sikkim include:

The 45 km road from Singtam to Rangpo, passing through Chew Botey, Pache Kahani, will be widened and upgraded, with an estimated cost of Rs 3.91 billion.
The 27 km road from Balguney to Soreng via Gelling and Chakung will undergo widening, upgradation, and carpeting, with an estimated budget of Rs 2.22 billion.
A 60 km stretch along Phamtam, Mangnam, Pokhari, Dhupidara, Labdang, Kongri, and Tashiding will be widened, upgraded, and carpeted, with a projected cost of Rs 4.80 billion.
The 30 km road from Pangthang to Dikchu via Tintek will also be widened, upgraded, and carpeted, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 2.40 billion.

Additionally, JICA plans to build a two-lane bridge at Jalipool along the Ranipool-Pakyong road and upgrade the Jalipool to Ranipool road at an estimated cost of Rs 290 million. These projects collectively aim to enhance infrastructure and improve connectivity in Sikkim.
