New Rs 550 Mn 4-lane road from Tiruttani Murugan temple

A new four-lane road is set to be constructed from Chittoor Road to the Tiruttani Murugan temple at a cost of approximately $6.6 million, announced PWD and Highways Minister EV Velu on Wednesday. Following an inspection at Tiruttani with HR&CE Minister PK Sekarbabu and Minorities Welfare Minister SM Nasar, Velu confirmed that the proposed road would stretch for two kilometers, with the ghat section spanning 1.1 kilometers being designed with a four-lane width. For the construction of the road, the State Highway Department will require 0.52 hectares of government poromboke land, 2.74 hectares of private land, and 2.72 hectares of forest land. As part of the process, the department will provide an area of forest land equivalent to double the size of the land to be acquired. Velu also mentioned that HR&CE Minister Sekarbabu has requested the tender for the project to be invited in February, with plans to complete the work by December. The project will proceed once approval is received from Chief Minister MK Stalin. Additionally, Velu addressed the demand for a new bypass road to the Siruvaipuri Murugan temple in Tiruvallur district. Due to heavy pilgrim traffic causing congestion, a bypass road is needed to alleviate the situation. He said the land near the temple must be acquired, and the department will aim to complete the new road by December after inspecting the area with department officials.
