NH construction work worth Rs 1,500 cr approved in Punjab

Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Nitin Gadkari, has announced the construction work of four and six-lane Greenfield Ludhiana - Rupnagar National Highway (NH-205K) on Thursday.
Gadkari took to Twitter and tweeted that the construction work of four/six lane Greenfield Ludhiana - Rupnagar National Highway (NH-205K), including Spur to Kharar with Ludhiana bypass under Bharatmala Pariyojana, has been sanctioned in the state of Punjab with a budget of Rs 1,501.02 crore.
The Economic Corridors development has been accentuated under Bharatmala Pariyojana. The 25,344 km national highway that has been planned would provide connectivity to economically essential production and consumption centres.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has revealed that India has constructed another 1,470 km of national highways in April and May amid Covid-induced lockdowns. The speed of construction was 28 km per day in April 2021, though as it declined by 61% month-on-month.
According to data by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), every implementing agency including the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), had built 210 km of national highway in April previous year.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has allocated funds for national highways development in Telangana for FY22. MoRTH has issued draft rules which state that the tyres of cars, buses, and trucks should meet the needs of wet grip and rolling sound emissions. It announced this policy for new model tyres from October 1, 2021, and for the existing models from October 1, 2022.
