The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced plans to install surveillance and night-vision cameras along a 46-kilometre stretch from the Sirhaul border to Kapriwas on National Highway 48, aimed at addressing traffic violations and monitoring speeding.
During the meeting, it was directed by Gurugram deputy commissioner Nishant Yadav that the emergency lane at the Kherki Daula toll plaza be kept clear of traffic. The plan was disclosed by NHAI officials at a road safety meeting, according to a statement issued by the district administration. In the meeting, Yadav recommended stringent actions against overloaded vehicles, prioritizing issuance of challans to such violators. Additionally, he ordered the prompt relocation of an electric pole situated in the middle of the road at Krishna Chowk.
Yadav emphasised, "Road safety is a shared responsibility. It is imperative for everyone to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to road safety protocols. There's a necessity to raise awareness among drivers regarding road safety regulations in the district, so that each individual considers road safety as their obligation."
Moreover, the NHAI officials present at the meeting, along with the concessionaire of the Kherki Daula toll plaza, were instructed by the deputy commissioner to maintain the emergency lane in an organized manner, free from traffic congestion.
During the meeting, NHAI officials disclosed that CCTV cameras equipped with 360-degree rotating night vision would be installed from Sirhaul to Kapriwas to address traffic violations, hit-and-run incidents, and any other accidents. "Initially, these cameras will be positioned at intervals of one kilometer from the Sirhaul border to the Kherki Daula toll plaza," stated the NHAI officials, as per the district administration's statement.
Gajendra Singh, the secretary of the regional traffic authority, mentioned that the construction work on the Foot Over Bridge (FOB) near Narsinghpur on the Gurugram-Jaipur National Highway is scheduled to be completed by July of this year.
A senior NHAI official had previously announced in March that plans were underway to install cameras along both the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway and the Dwarka expressway in a loop.
