NHAI Plans Link Between Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway and Kolar Highway

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning to construct an 18-kilometre link road connecting the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway with the Bengaluru–Kolar Highway (NH 75). The move aims to improve regional connectivity and offer convenience to commuters, particularly those heading to the Andhra Pradesh border areas.

Currently, motorists use the newly opened 68-kilometre section of the expressway in Karnataka, which stretches from Hoskote to Bethamangala (KGF). The remainder of the expressway in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu is still under construction, leading to a lack of end-to-end access.

NHAI officials said the proposed link will enhance traffic flow, enable toll collection, and stimulate economic and employment opportunities in surrounding areas. Motorists currently rely on village and district roads after exiting at Bethamangala.

Plans are being considered to upgrade local roads by connecting them to NH 75 from Sundarapalya to Mulbagal, offering broader accessibility and strengthening the transport network.

Traffic on the completed stretch has already reached 1,800 to 2,000 vehicles daily, and numbers are expected to rise with improved access and connectivity.
