The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a notification for acquiring land to construct a 93 km long outer ring road of Kanpur Nagar.
The acquisition will be done phase-wise. In the first phase, for acquiring land to build a bypass of length 22.5 km between Mandhana and Sachendi, a notification has been issued. The land will be obtained from 79 villages of Kanpur Dehat and Kanpur Nagar district.
The district magistrate will soon choose an officer as a prescribed authority who will issue a notification to prohibit the land sale to be acquired by the government, as per the procedure.
The district administration felt the necessity of constructing an outer ring road to control traffic jams. The ring road starts from Mandhana, passes by Sachendi, and joins with the Kanpur-Etawah highway.
The outer ring road will be built in four phases. The first phase will reduce traffic pressure on city roads because a road up to Chandra Shekhar Azad Agriculture University connects Lucknow highway from Mandhana, said Pankaj Mishra, project director.
Mishra said as the first phase would join Kanpur-Etawah highway, the Lucknow and Prayagraj traffic would be diverted to the other side.
He said for the first phase, the notification of land acquisition has already been issued, and for the remaining three phases, notifications for land acquisition would be issued soon.
Overall, for the ring road, land from 271 villages would be acquired, he added. In the first phase, the villages to be affected by land acquisition are from Mandhana to Sachendi in Kanpur Dehat, Todarpur, Malikpur, Makrandpur Bantha, Bhagwat, and many more.
