Nitin Gadkari launches Rs 40 bn highway boost for Punjab's Development

Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, marked a significant stride in propelling Punjab towards development by inaugurating 29 National Highway projects in Hoshiarpur. These projects represent a collective investment exceeding Rs 40 billion, demonstrating a strong commitment to enhance the state's infrastructure.
The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of key dignitaries, including Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Som Prakash, Punjab BJP State President Sunil Kumar, along with Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly, and other officials.
The unveiled projects and the laying of foundation stones are poised to elevate the region's infrastructure, contributing to overall economic development. These initiatives aim to improve the quality of life for the local population by ensuring seamless traffic flow and enhancing the efficiency of freight transportation.
The construction of a 4-lane section, incorporating Phagwara and Hoshiarpur bypasses, will establish high-speed connectivity of 100 kmph between Phagwara and Hoshiarpur, reducing travel time from 1 hour to just 30 minutes. This development not only enhances connectivity but also alleviates congestion in urban areas.
The 4-lane Ladowal Bypass in Ludhiana, connecting GT Road and National Highway 5, will directly link Ludhiana-Ferozepur Highway to the Delhi-Jalandhar Highway (National Highway 44). This strategic connection is expected to address traffic challenges and further streamline transportation.
The 4-laning of the Talwandi Bhai to Firozpur section and Firozpur bypass will significantly improve connectivity, ensuring safer and faster movement on the country's highways. The projects are also anticipated to enhance access to religious pilgrimage sites and improve inter-state connectivity within the designated project areas.
Gadkari also announced additional road connectivity projects, including the construction of a 45 km, 4-lane bypass at Mukerian, Dasuiya, and Bhogpur on the Jalandhar to Pathankot route, costing Rs 16 billion, and a 30 km, 4-lane bypass from Tanda to Hoshiarpur for Rs 8 billion. These announcements underscore a continued commitment to improving Punjab's road infrastructure.
