On Wednesday, CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated four state highways of 129.47 km long worth Rs 1,056.91 crore through videoconferencing. Out of the four, three of the highways are in south Bihar and one in north Bihar. Apart from this, it has two road overbridges (ROBs). Managing Director of the Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSRDC), Pankaj Kumar, said that three roads in south Bihar, the 54.519 km long NH-102, which runs through Bhojpur district, had been constructed at Rs 504.20 crore. It has a 10 metres paved shoulder and a ROB on the Ara-Sasaram rail line. It connects the four-lane Patna-Buxar road at Danwar Bihta and Nasriganj-Daudnagar bridge to the Magadh region. He further said that the 29.3 km Amarpur-Akbarnagar state highway 85 will provide smooth traffic through Bhagalpur, Munger and Banka. It was constructed at Rs 220.71 crore. The 41.11 km long Ghogha-Panjwara state highway 84, running through Bhagalpur and Banka, was constructed at Rs 332 crore to provide smooth traffic from trucks laden with stones and chips. ROB construction at Ghogha Bazar was delayed due to issues with land acquisition and will be ready by January 2022. The fourth state highway of north Bihar, 10 metres wide and 4.55 km long, will connect Vijayghat and Naugachia in Bhagalpur. Nitish Kumar hopes PM Modi will notice the plea for a caste census. On Tuesday, Nitish said that he hopes that the Centre will give due consideration to plea to the 11 members of the all-party Bihar delegation and consider the caste census in the country. He further added that all the copies of the unanimous resolutions by the state assembly in 2019 and 2020 would be sent to the Centre, with other details. The second caste census would benefit the people, and all the political parties in Bihar are favouring it, while it will also be in the national interest, Nitish said.
