PM unveils Nagpur's Maharashtra Samriddhi Mahamarg

The first phase of the 520-km Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, which connects Nagpur and Shirdi, was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Nagpur.

Post event, Prime Minister tweeted:
鈥淲e are committed to delivering on top quality infrastructure and the Mahamarg between Nagpur and Shirdi is an example of this effort. Inaugurated this modern road project and also drove on the Mahamarg. I am sure it will contribute to further economic progress of Maharashtra.鈥�

Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister, Maharashtra; Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Maharashtra Governor; Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra and Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, welcomed the Prime Minister upon his arrival.

The first phase of the 520-kilometre Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, which connects Nagpur and Shirdi, was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Samruddhi Mahamarg or Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway Project is a significant step in achieving the Prime Minister's goal of better infrastructure and connectivity throughout the nation. One of India's longest expressways, the 701 km route travels through Amravati, Aurangabad, and Nashik as well as 10 districts in Maharashtra at a cost of nearly Rs 550 billion. The expressway will aid in the development of roughly 24 districts in the state, including the regions of Vidarbha, Marathwada, and North Maharashtra, as well as through enhancing communication with 14 neighbouring districts.
