PMC directs departments to reinstate roadways in accordance with rules

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) road department has given instructions to all businesses and agencies, as well as its water supply and drainage departments, to carry out the reinstatement of roads properly in accordance with the issued guidelines after taking serious note of the substandard restoration work that resulted in pothole-ridden roads for the majority of last year. The PMC road department in particular has given the water supply and drainage departments instructions to minimise the digging work and focus instead on repaving the roads before the monsoon.

Executive engineer for the road department Sahebrao Dandge stated, "We have given strong directions to all businesses and agencies, together with the water supply and drainage departments, to carry out road reinstatement in accordance with the circular issued by the road department. We have provided all agencies and PMC departments with technical standards and schematics. This is the first circular we've ever released.鈥

The water supply department's superintendent engineer, Nandkumar Jagtap, stated: "We have instructed all contractors to rigorously follow the protocols for reinstating roadways. We have decided to restrict water supply operations during the monsoon this year. This time, our focus is on reinstatement work. The construction is ongoing around the city.鈥

The water supply and drainage departments simultaneously dug in various locations last year, according to Santosh Tandale, chief superintendent of the drainage department. As directed by the road department, we are currently working on reinstatement. There isn't any digging going on right now. We are done with the work.
