PMGSY road projects receive Center approval says Khemchand

Y Khemchand, Minister of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, announced that soil stabilisation technology will be employed in the construction of the authorised roads so that the roads have a life-span of at least 25 years. The centre has approved construction of roads covering a total distance of 814 km under PMGSY-Phase III in the state.

The plan for the roads that will be built as part of PMGSY - Phase III has been finalised and will be sent to the government very shortly.

The 47 km long road in Churachandpur district was built using a soil stabilisation technique that was tested first. If this technique is adopted, the life of PMGSY roads throughout the state will be extended.

Adopting soil stabilisation technology could reduce rainy season damage to newly built roadways.

While asserting that 39 projects鈥17 bridges and 22 roads鈥攗nder PMGSY have been finished since he took over the department, Khemchand also added that 35 locations are currently undergoing normal maintenance work.
