Pumpwell Circle-Padil Road 4-lane project to be completed by March 2024

Sudheer Shetty Kannur, Mayor, in collaboration with Praveen Chandra Alva, the opposition leader of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) council, carried out an inspection of the Mahaveer Circle (Pumpwell)-Padil Road stretch. The road, spanning 2.8 km and serving as a crucial gateway to the city, is undergoing transformation into a four-lane thoroughfare at an estimated cost of Rs 240 million. This development project is being overseen by the Mangaluru Smart City (MSCL). However, progress on the project has been sluggish, causing significant inconvenience to motorists.

The MSCL initiated the redevelopment of the old National Highway stretch in February 2022, with a budget of Rs 240 million, following its denotification by the NHAI. Previously, this stretch was a part of Mangaluru-Bengaluru NH 75. Recognising the hindrance faced by commuters due to the prolonged delay, Kannur, accompanied by engineers, personally visited the site. During the inspection, he directed the officials to expedite the work and ensure its completion by the end of November.

He urged them, "Please make sure the road work is finished by the end of November, as the delay is causing great inconvenience to the people using this busy road stretch," he said.
