Repairs will be carried out by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) along stretches where the metro work is underway throughout the city.
On Tuesday, a PMC official told the media that MahaMetro has been told not to dig up roads without permission.
MahaMetro's general manager public relations, Hemant Sonawane, said the company is working with the PMC to repair roads along all stretches.
MahaMetro is erecting prefabricated structures at high-traffic intersections and stretches to avoid road closures.
Regular repairs have been requested by road users and elected representatives. Officials from MahaMetro and the municipal corporation met recently as well.
According to MahaMetro, separate teams will now work on stretches of Paud Road, Karve Road, Raj Bahadur Mill Road, and other roads.
Murad Shaikh, an autorickshaw driver in the Pune Station area, said that stretches of the road between Sangam Bridge and Bund Garden need to be repaired. Because of the Metro construction, the road will deteriorate. Potholes, flooded roads, dust, detours, and uneven patches are all obstacles for drivers.
Paud Road and Karve Road users have expressed similar concerns. Potholes and rough patches are present along the stretches where Metro work is being done, according to Dipali Shetti, a private bank employee.
Roads need to be cleaned regularly. Also, for the safety of night time road users, lighting needs to be improved.
Regular meetings and visits with MahaMetro and PMC officials, according to activist Sandeep Khardekar, are held to alleviate commuter problems.
