Road repair in Salt Lake City undertaken by Bidhannagar Municipal Corp

Anita Mondal, the deputy mayor in charge of the department responsible for road repairs, announced that they would make major repairs to the roads, which are currently littered with craters and pothole in the Salt Lake city. Prior to repairing the roads, Mondal said, "We will scrape out the battered layer.鈥 She claims that the money for road repairs has come and that bids have also been requested.

The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation's 41 councillors were previously instructed to conduct a survey on poor roads in their individual wards and report results by the end of this month. The decision to conduct the study was made during a board of councillors meeting held a few months ago with the intention of performing "patchwork repairs on an urgent basis," according to a senior official with the civic authority.

According to a senior official of the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation's roadways, the corporation decided to allocate Rs 10 lakh to each ward for these haphazard repairs. Huge craters and potholes have developed in Salt Lake. Many of the township's roads and all three of its sectors have a Martian-like appearance. A few areas have entirely lost their asphalt layer due to the movement of vehicles over time, which has also made the situation worse.

This causes the brickwork of the roads to be exposed in various places, and in various locations, sharp edges of the bricks poke out, making it very challenging for drivers to drive or ride a two- wheeler on the roads. Near the Purbachal housing complex, in front of gate number one of Salt Lake stadium, is one of the township's worst road segments. This section is made into a driver's nightmare by at least a dozen craters that are not only wide but also very deep.
