Rural Development Ministry approves road construction in three states

The Rural Development Ministry granted approval for the construction of roads in three states, following several central schemes. Officials reported that Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan sanctioned a range of projects, which include the development of infrastructure across these states.

In Madhya Pradesh, the approved plan encompasses the construction of 60 roads, which will span a total distance of 152.44 kilometres. This initiative is being carried out under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), with an allocated budget of Rs 1.13 billion. This scheme aims to enhance connectivity and support the development of tribal and indigenous communities in the region.

In Maharashtra, the approval includes the construction of 117 roads, covering a total length of 745.286 kilometres. These roads will be developed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which is a program designed to improve rural road infrastructure across the country. The total cost for this project in Maharashtra is Rs 6.55 billion.

Additionally, in Kerala, the ministry has approved the construction of 11 bridges. This work will also be executed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and is estimated to cost Rs 550.28 billion. The new bridges are expected to significantly improve transportation and connectivity in the state.

These projects are part of ongoing efforts by the central government to enhance infrastructure and support rural development through targeted schemes.
