SP Ring Road to be Widened to Six Lanes as AUDA Invites Tenders

The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has initiated the expansion of the Sardar Patel Ring Road (SP Ring Road) from a four-lane to a six-lane road. The project covers a 76-km stretch and includes the construction of a two-lane service road on both sides to enhance connectivity and ease traffic congestion.

The project has been divided into two phases for execution. The first phase involves a 37-km stretch with an estimated cost of Rs 8.48 billion, while the second phase covers a 39-km stretch with an estimated cost of Rs 8.93 billion. The total budget for the expansion is expected to be around Rs 22 billion.

The SP Ring Road, which connects key areas such as Vaishnodevi, Sanand, Mehmadabad, Naroda, and Zundal, plays a crucial role in Ahmedabad鈥檚 traffic management. The expansion is expected to improve the overall traffic flow and reduce congestion in these regions. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

In addition to road widening, the development plan includes footpaths and green zones to enhance urban infrastructure. A flyover is also planned at the Dholera Expressway junction to streamline traffic movement.

During a recent board meeting, AUDA approved further infrastructure development around Sanand city and the GIDC area. As part of this initiative, a new town planning scheme, TP Scheme No. 387 Bol, will be developed to support industrial and residential growth in the region.
