Uddamgadda RoB Nears Completion After Delays

The construction of the long-delayed road over bridge (RoB) at the Uddamgadda railway halt in Shastripuram, Hyderabad, is nearing completion, with 90 per cent of the work finished. Officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have confirmed that ramps on both sides are ready and the remaining work is underway.

The RoB is being built near National Highway 44 on the outskirts of Rangareddy to ease chronic traffic congestion. Initially proposed in 2017, the Rs 710 Mn project faced prolonged delays due to coordination issues between GHMC and the railways. It was only grounded in 2021 after several rounds of deliberation.

The 490-m-long bridge will connect NH 44 with Old Kurnool Road and the Srisailam Highway, providing a faster and more reliable travel option for commuters. Completion is now scheduled for August 2025.

GHMC Superintendent Engineer Dattupant confirmed that the work, including land acquisition and utility costs, has largely been completed. The bridge is one of the most delayed joint projects between GHMC and the railways.
The issue had previously been raised in the Lok Sabha by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who criticised the extended delay in execution.
