Union Minister Announces Meeting to Accelerate Flyover Construction

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has revealed plans to convene a meeting with state government officials and contractors to improve coordination and speed up the construction of a flyover.

Addressing the press after the groundbreaking ceremony for the Light Vehicle Underpass (LVUP) at Noolvi Cross on NH-48, which is expected to cost Rs 12.4 crore, Joshi explained that although the Union government is funding the flyover project, it is under the jurisdiction of the state government for execution. However, he noted that poor coordination between the involved parties had led to slower progress than anticipated.

鈥淚 do not want to place blame on anyone concerning development work, but it鈥檚 clear that there is a communication gap between state officials and the contractors,鈥 he stated.

Joshi further assured that a special meeting would be arranged within a week, involving PWD Principal Secretary Selvakumar, the District Commissioner, the contractor, and other relevant stakeholders.

Responding to concerns from farmers seeking underpasses along the half-ring road near Hubballi鈥檚 outskirts, Joshi promised to review their demands and try to accommodate them. He emphasised that public notifications are issued before highway projects begin, allowing citizens to voice concerns or request features like underpasses.

Joshi also highlighted that the Narendra Modi-led government has significantly accelerated road construction, with over 30 kilometres of road being built daily.

He remarked that road development under former Prime Minister Vajpayee had been much slower. Additionally, he mentioned the rise in prices for essential commodities, including LPG and milk, in Karnataka despite various welfare initiatives.

Kundgol MLA MR Patil and other officials were also present at the event.
