Uttarakhand granted Rs 2.5 bn project under central road fund

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari provided Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami with a firm assurance of sanctioning Rs 2.5 billion project for Uttarakhand through the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund. This commitment was made during their meeting in New Delhi. At the meeting, Chief Minister Dhami had requested financial and administrative approval for the CRIF proposals, as well as funds for the restoration of national highways in the state that were damaged by natural disasters.

In response to the Chief Minister's request, Gadkari advised him to resend the proposal for flood damage repair (FDR) to proceed with the necessary steps. Additionally, he approved Dhami's plea to appoint the Uttarakhand Public Works Department as the construction agency for the enhancement and widening of National Highway-109, which connects the Kumaon region to the rest of the country. He also instructed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials to expedite the critical two-lane tunnel project in Mussoorie.

Chief Minister Dhami further sought approval for a Rs 3.67 billion plan to convert National Highway-123 into a two-lane route, which connects Yamunotri Dham and serves as an alternative route for the Chardham Yatra. Gadkari assured him that this proposal would be approved without delay.

In response to Dhami's request, Gadkari directed NHAI officials to take immediate action on the construction of the Dehradun Ring Road. The projects discussed during the meeting demonstrate the government's commitment to improving infrastructure and connectivity in Uttarakhand.
