The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has invited e-bids for leasing vacant land of around 4,969 sq mt for residential cum commercial development in Gujarat鈥檚 Bhavnagar.
The pre-bid online meeting took place on June 2, and the deadline for the submission of bids is July 14, RLDA informed. As per RLDA, the development site is situated at Bhavnagar Medical colony in the Saurashtra area of Gujarat.
Bhavnagar is well-connected with other cities of Gujarat like Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara by road. The Bhavnagar railway division of the Bhavnagar Terminus connects it to many parts of India.
RLDA is a statutory authority under the Ministry of Railways for developing Railway land and assets. The development plan has four key mandates, including the leasing of the commercial sites, redevelopment of the colony, redevelopment of the station, and multi-functional complexes.
The Indian Railways have an approximate 43,000 hectares of the vacant region throughout India. Currently, RLDA is managing 84 railway colony redevelopment projects.
It has recently leased out one railway colony in Guwahati for its redevelopment. It has more than 84 commercial sites in India for leasing, and the bidders will be chosen for each through an open and transparent bidding process. RLDA is also working on 60 stations in a phased manner, whereas its subsidiary IRSDC has taken up additional 63 stations.
In the first redevelopment phase, RLDA has focused on prominent stations such as New Delhi, Tirupati, Dehradun, Nellore, Puducherry, and Cuttack for the redevelopment. The railway stations in India will be redeveloped over a Private-Public Partnership (PPP) model as a part of the Smart City Project launched by the government of India.
