(BMRCL) has awarded a crucial contract worth Rs.299 million to Vossloh Cogifer Turnouts India Pvt. Ltd. The contract pertains to the supply of turnouts for Phase 2A and Phase 2B of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project, adding impetus to the city's ambitious metro expansion plans.
The contract, which was assigned under Tender No. BMRCL/Phase-2A & 2B/Turnouts/2023/101, involves a comprehensive scope ranging from designing to manufacturing and supplying standard Gauge UIC 60 Turnouts for the designated phases of the metro project. The procurement process, initiated with BMRCL inviting bids in December 2023, has now culminated in the allocation of this pivotal contract. With a stipulated deadline of 24 months (2 years) and an estimated project cost of Rs. 374 million, the contract's swift adjudication reflects the project's momentum toward achieving its objectives within the predefined timelines.
Phase 2A of the Bangalore Metro project is set to connect KR Puram to the Central Silkboard along the Outer Ring Road, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance connectivity across the city. Construction contracts for this phase were awarded in May 2021, with a targeted completion date set for June 2025. The infusion of resources through contracts such as the one awarded to Vossloh Cogifer Turnouts India marks a significant stride towards realizing this target.
Furthermore, Phase 2B of the project encompasses the critical airport-link section, connecting Bengaluru city to the Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli.
