Ceigall India Completes First Pile for Kanpur Metro Line 2

Ceigall India has successfully drilled and concreted the first pile for Kanpur Metro?s 8.38 km Line 2, within Package KNPCC-12. This milestone is a significant step forward for the city's Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) project.
Package KNPCC-12 Overview
Package KNPCC-12 covers 4.3 km, featuring two distinct elevated sections that flank the underground Package KNPCC-11. The project includes the construction of approximately 750 piles to support the viaduct and substructures of the stations, as per the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC).
The southern segment, a 3.745 km stretch from Double Pullia Ramp to Barra-8, will host four elevated stations: Vijay Nagar Chauraha, Shastri Chowk, Barra-7, and Barra-8. Meanwhile, a 557.8m viaduct on the northern end will feature a single elevated station at Agriculture University, adjacent to Line-2?s Agriculture University Depot.
Scope of Work
The extensive scope of Package KNPCC-12 includes the design and construction of the elevated viaduct and five elevated stations:
Agriculture University Station
Vijay Nagar Chauraha Station
Shastri Chowk Station
Barra-7 Station
Barra-8 Station
Additionally, the package involves architectural finishing, electrical and mechanical work, and the construction of special spans.
Project Milestones and Costs
UPMRC floated the tender for Package KNPCC-12 in November 2023 at a projected cost of Rs. 4.84 billion, with a completion deadline of 30 months. Designed by SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India), the package was awarded to Ceigall India in March 2024 for Rs. 4.2711 billion.
