Railway travellers were informed by the Central Railway's general manager, Ram Karan Yadav, that they would need to wait an additional two years for seamless travel. The completion of the third and fourth railway lines between Nagpur-Sewagram-Balharshah is targeted for December 2025. Yadav stated to media persons, ?The third and fourth lines between Nagpur-Itarsi are expected to be completed by 2027.?
Nagpur witnesses the movement of at least 250 passengers and an equal number of freight trains, leading to congestion. The line capacity has surpassed the saturation point, making the completion of the third and fourth lines crucial for smooth travel and the introduction of new trains.
Yadav, during an inspection tour of the Badnera-Wardha-Nagpur section, assessed passenger amenities, infrastructure development, and operational efficiency at various locations. He shared, ?The redevelopment of Nagpur and Ajni railway stations is expected to be completed by December 2026. The Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) is redeveloping Nagpur and Ajni.?
Responding to the demand for new trains to Pune, Yadav acknowledged the issue at the Pune end, stating, ?We are aware of it, but there are some hiccups at the Pune end. Once cleared, some trains can be started. The railway is expediting interlocking works and has completed it at 28 stations.?
Regarding the broad-gauge metro project, for which an MoU was signed between the Indian Railways and Maha Metro, Yadav mentioned, ?It is a policy matter, and a decision will be taken by the ministry of railways.?
The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Manish Agarwal, along with other senior officers of Central Railway, was present during the media interaction. Yadav assured, ?Considering passengers? safety, the ambit of Kavach scheme and CCTV cameras will be expanded.?
