Delhi-Meerut RAPIDX corridor phase-II expands

Following the successful operation of the 17-kilometre priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RAPIDX corridor from Sahibabad to Duhai, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is gearing up for Phase-II, which will connect Duhai to Meerut South station.

Vinay Singh, Managing Director of NCRTC, recently conducted an inspection of the construction work in this section, which includes track laying, overhead equipment installation, and electrical work. The stations within this phase comprise Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, and Meerut South.

The distance between Duhai and Meerut South Station is approximately 25 kilometres, with the viaduct construction already completed. In this section, both up and down lines cover a total length of 50 kilometres, with over half of the tracks already laid. Traction works, including mast cantilever erection, are also underway, and track laying activities are progressing rapidly.

In the second phase of the RAPIDX train services, operations will commence between Duhai and Meerut South Station. The priority section is ready for train operations, and services for commuters will begin shortly.

Construction activities for all the stations in the Phase-II section are in progress, with technical rooms and structures for concourse and platform levels already completed. Finishing work is ongoing, and the pre-fabricated roof structure is currently under construction.

During the inspection, MD Vinay Singh commended the officials and encouraged them for their speedy work on the corridor. He emphasised the importance of diligently following safety and security norms during the construction process, ensuring the safety of commuters and workers alike.
