The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) achieved this milestone by incorporating sustainable design and operational practices across its metro infrastructure. The IGBC, a leading certification body promoting eco-friendly infrastructure, evaluates projects based on key green parameters, including:

Energy Efficiency 鈥� Implementation of energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems. Water Conservation 鈥� Integration of rainwater harvesting and water recycling mechanisms. Use of Renewable Energy 鈥� Solar power generation for station operations. Sustainable Construction Materials 鈥� Prioritising low-carbon and eco-friendly building materials. Enhanced Indoor Environmental Quality 鈥� Ensuring better ventilation and air quality inside stations.

BMRCL鈥檚 Green Metro Vision This achievement aligns with BMRCL鈥檚 broader vision of integrating green building principles into metro development, reinforcing Bengaluru鈥檚 commitment to a more sustainable urban transport system. The initiative also reflects the city鈥檚 push towards reducing carbon emissions and improving public transit efficiency.

Upcoming Metro Expansion 鈥� Yellow Line Update Further strengthening Bengaluru鈥檚 metro network, the much-anticipated Yellow Line (RV Road to Bommasandra) is set to become operational by May 2025, as confirmed by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar.

The 19.1-km corridor, spanning 16 stations, will enhance connectivity between southern Bengaluru and Electronics City, significantly reducing congestion, particularly around the Central Silk Board bottleneck.

UP RERA Warns Builders Against Handing Over Incomplete Flats
