HRIDC to conduct feasibility study for 135km EORC project

The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC) has announced plans to conduct a feasibility study for the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor (EORC) project. Spanning 135 km, the proposed corridor will run parallel to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, linking Palwal in Haryana to Sonipat via Ghaziabad, Noida, and Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh.

An official statement indicated that 90 km of the corridor will be within Uttar Pradesh, while the remaining 45 km will be in Haryana. The Uttar Pradesh government initiated the task to conduct the feasibility study for the project.

A meeting of the HRIDC Board of Directors was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary T V S N Prasad, who is also the Chairman, HRIDC. Rajesh Agarwal, MD, mentioned that feasibility studies are on-going for a new rail line between Narwana and Uklana (about 27 km) and a new chord line at Kurukshetra (approximately 10 km). Additionally, the Railway Board has sanctioned the final location survey for the Karnal-Yamunanagar new rail line, and HRIDC is working to secure early approval from the Ministry of Railways.

Agarwal also noted that the Railway Board has approved the final location survey for the Farukhnagar-Jhajjar new line, which aims to improve rail connectivity between IGI Airport Delhi and the upcoming Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar. Furthermore, HRIDC is conducting a feasibility study to elevate the Kaithal railway track, including the Kaithal Railway Station, to eliminate three planned level crossings. (Source: ET)
