Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRCL) has raised its personnel by 2.5 times and begun working the night shift in order to fulfil a September deadline for the trial run of the proposed Indore Metro in the 鈥榮uper priority corridor'.
MP Shankar Lalwani and MPMRCL officials, including managing director Manish Singh, reviewed the progress of the Indore Metro rail project on Saturday and set a September 2023 deadline for the start of the trial and then an operational run of the train in a six-kilometre route between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor (S3) called 'super priority corridor'.
"Trial run on around 6 km stretch on Super Corridor is set to begin by the first week of September and thus, all issues including approval of drawings and designs have been resolved with coordination of the agencies concerned," Singh said, adding that similar efforts are being made to speed up work until Hotel Radisson Square.
The MD stated that DGMs, senior DGMs, and managerial-level personnel have been assigned to the project in Indore and Bhopal, as well as boosting the workforce by approximately 2.5 times and beginning night shifts to help meet the deadline. "The coaches are being crafted in Baroda, which we are expecting to receive by the end of May," he said, adding that works at stabling yards, inspection pits and depots are underway at a fast pace.
He added that the rails, which are pending third-party inspection, are anticipated to be transported to Indore by February 20, while another agency has begun preparations to put down the tracks on the elevated route. "The work to start the Metro Rail trial and then operation run is being done at a quick pace and at a satisfactory level, while building of the stations, which will have modern facilities, has also begun," Lalwani added.
