Khurda-Bolangir line approved for Rs 1.5 billion Odisha government

The Khurda Road-Bolangir rail line project now has 10.5 km of freshly laid broad gauge line between Bichhupali and Jhartarbha, and the Odisha government has approved Rs 1.5 billion for quick completion of the much-anticipated project.

The 306.25 km Khurda Road-Bolangir railway project has received land allocations from the state government at no cost, and it is also paying for half of the construction costs.

The money was allocated for the 112 km to 289 km Khurda Road-Bolangir NBG Rail Link Project during FY23. Additionally, decisions have been made to expedite the clearing of the forest as soon as possible under strict time constraints.

91 km from Khurda Road to Nuagaon out of the 306 km total length of the new railway line between Bolangir and Khurda Road had been put into service. Between Bichhupali and Jhartarbha, an additional 10.5 km has been completed.

The goal is to commission the project by March 2023. Work is now being done on the 91 to 106 km stretch from Nuagaon to Daspalla.

Due to the lack of Stage-I forest clearance, work from Buguda to Banigocgha has not yet begun.
