Maha Metro to develop Detailed Project Report for Pune metro extension

The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro) in India has started work on a detailed project report (DPR) for the Pune metro extension.

With Phase I nearing completion, the DPR will be prepared to extend the current 33.1km long Metro lines. Phase II corridors will stretch for 82.5 km.

These corridors will connect Vanaz to Chandani Chowk (1.5 km), Ramwadi to Wagholi (12 km), Hadapsar to Kharadi (5 km), Swargate to Hadapsar (7 km), Khadakwasla to Swargate (13 km), and SNDT to Warje (8 km), as well as 36 km of the proposed High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR) in PMC.

Maha Metro will conduct a door-to-door study to estimate ridership and public transportation preferences among residents as part of the initiative.

The survey will be conducted by Maha-Metro-affiliated companies UMTC Limited and Data Corp Traffic Private Limited.

The DPR will be submitted to the authorities for approval after it is completed.

The Pune Metro project is being implemented by Maha Metro, a joint venture between the central and Maharashtra governments.

Passenger service is expected to begin soon in a few sections of the Pune Metro's Phase I.

The European Investment Bank signed a $182 million or 鈧�150 million loan agreement with the Indian government in May of last year for the second phase of the Pune Metro Rail project in Maharashtra.
