MMRDA provided 15 hectares of land at Kanjurmarg for Metro Line 6

Given that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has received 15 hectares of land in Kanjurmarg, work on Mumbai Metro Line-6 is set to pick up speed. For the planned metro route, which is still under development, the area will contain a depot. The work has been finished to about a 65% of the total work. The Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road will be the line's route. Officials claim that the state government has instructed Mumbai's Suburban Collector to make the Kanjurmarg property available for the establishment of the depot. A spokesman of the Mumbai Suburban Collector's office stated that all documentation would be completed by this week.

After crossing the lines of the Central Railway and Western Railway, the railway will connect Vikhroli and Lokhandwala in Andheri (West). The MMRDA is expected to publish tenders for the depot's construction around the end of the month. The first location recommended for the Metro 6 depot was Kanjurmarg. However, the previous Uddhav Thackeray administration chose to construct an integrated depot by also moving the Metro 3 depot to Kanjurmarg. Line 4 was originally intended to be housed within the integrated depot.

However, after Eknath Shinde assumed control of the state, his administration abandoned this idea and relocated the Metro 3 depot to Aarey once more. However, the federal government's intervention put the project on hold due to a land title issue. Rajendra Bhosle, a Mumbai Suburban collector, told that the MMRDA is currently just required to provide a guarantee letter. The letter would specify that MMRDA would be solely responsible for any future disagreements involving the site or costs to be expended. After getting the guarantee, the land will be given to MMRDA in three to four days.
