Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed corridor yet to be completed

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed bullet train project is yet to be completed. However, the Ministry of Railways has decided to proceed with seven new high-speed bullet train projects, including the one on priority between New Delhi and Ayodhya.

After India's first high-speed rail project, Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed bullet train project, Mumbai will also have rail connectivity to Nagpur. A detailed project report (DPR) for the new high-speed rail project of 766 km long is under preparation by the experts of the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).

According to the sources, preliminary surveys are completed for this project. The Ministry of Railways has also planned to connect Varanasi and New Delhi through a high-speed rail corridor.

The general manager of NHSRCL, Sushma Gaur, said that the Ministry of Railways had entrusted NHSRCL with preparing DPRs of seven high-speed rail corridor projects. The DPR will soon be prepared for the Delhi-Varanasi high-speed corridor of 942 km long, which is among one of them.

She added that the ministry had asked NHSRCL to prepare DPRs for the Mumbai-Nagpur of 740 km, Delhi-Ahmedabad of 886 km, Delhi-Amritsar of 459 km, Mumbai-Hyderabad of 711 km, Chennai-Mysore of 435 km, and Varanasi-Howrah of 760 km high-speed rail corridors.
