Mumbai Metro: MMMOCL floats tender for track maintenance of line 7, 2A

In a recent development, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) is looking for a company to provide track maintenance and manpower for Metro Lines 7 (from Gundavali to Overipada) and 2A (from Dahisar East to Andheri West), as well as the Charkop depot.

Once the civil work is completed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), MMMOCL will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of both lines. The cost of maintaining the track and providing manpower, according to MMMOCL officials, is estimated to be Rs 1.57 crore. Those interested should submit their information by July 30. Tenders will be available for purchase beginning June 30.

Commercial operations along this corridor should begin next year, as more than 90% of the civil work on both lines has been completed. On both Metro Lines 7 and 2A, the MMMOCL recently began a dynamic trial run on the 20 km stretch between Dhanukarwadi and Aarey Colony.

Japan-imported head hardened HH1080 grade rails have been installed on Metro Lines 7 and 2A. The rails will be welded using a mobile flash butt welding machine once they have been installed. Following that, the ballastless track laying work will begin. On viaducts, this type of track is recommended because regular cleaning and ballast replacement are not possible.

By 2031, the two corridors are expected to transport approximately 12.77 lakh commuters daily between Dahisar and Andheri once they are fully operational.
